The warmer weather is almost here and so too is outdoor living - is your deck up to the job of all that outdoor dining, entertaining and relaxing?
Nothing beats being outside with family and friends on those balmy summer nights. Picture this: the smell of a barbeque cooking, some tunes and a tub of cold drinks. Day drifts into night, candles flicker in hurricane vases casting a golden glow across your patchy, sun-bleached deck, whilst one of your guests slips on a manky mildewy stain. Not quite resort-styling living, is it?
Rain, heat, wind and cold all have an impact on the appearance of your deck over time. Mould and mildew, greying, loss of colour or sheen, patchy areas and stains are all signs that your deck needs some love.
Regular maintenance of your deck will increase its lifespan and of course your enjoyment of your outdoor living space. Staining and sealing is the most effective way to prolong the life of your timber deck. Depending on the level of exposure to the elements, an inspection every 6-12 months will determine whether your deck needs a recoat. Look for loss of sheen, colour or patchiness as these are all visible signs that your deck would benefit from a recoat.
