APCO Packaging Covenant
We have been a member of the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) over 15 years. APCO is a co-regulatory not-for-profit organisation leading the development of a circular economy for packaging in Australia. APCO's vision is a packaging value chain that collaborates to keep packaging materials out of landfill and retains the maximum value of the materials, energy and labour within the local economy.
Our Operations
Energy
Over the decade to June 30th, 2022, we have successfully reduced our carbon emissions by 16% per litre of paint produced. This has been accomplished by implementing various eco-friendly technologies such as solar panels, LED lighting, and reducing vehicle emissions across our network.
The recent installation of state of the art manufacturing machinery and the inclusion of additional solar panels at our Ballarat manufacturing site will allow us to continue to significantly reduce our carbon emissions.
In September 2023, we removed the production of solvent based paints from our Ballarat manufacturing site. While we will continue to provide solvent based options for customers, our Research and Development team remains focussed on developing water-based alternatives that meet the needs of our customers.
Water
Since our rainwater treatment system became operational in September 2023, 42% of all water used in our new manufacturing facility (including paint making, process washings and toilets) has been supplied from captured rainwater.
