Eco-Friendly Paints: What Your Clients Need To Know

Eco-Friendly Paints: What Your Clients Need To Know

Education Paint

Whether you're quoting a residential repaint or a commercial building, understanding environmental paint certifications is important. But not all certifications are equal, and not all paints that claim to be responsible actually are.

As Australia’s largest family-owned paint brand, with nearly a century of experience formulating paints for Australian weather, Haymes Paint combines trusted performance with innovation in a growing range of Global GreenTag™ Certified products.

Learn what GreenTag certification means, which Haymes Paint products carry it, how it impacts your work, and how you can confidently quote certified paints without compromising on finish, durability or ease of application.

Trusted Name in Paint with GreenTag Certifications

Haymes Paint have built our reputation over four generations by doing things properly, developing high-performing paints, delivering trade support, and backing our products with real research.

What makes us different is our focus on what matters to you: durability, application quality, and local knowledge. We formulate and test every product right here in Australia, ensuring they stand up to the conditions you work in daily.

That same commitment sits behind our GreenTag Certified products. They don’t just meet environmental goals, they meet your professional standards too. Read more about our sustainability efforts and commitment to reducing our environmental impact.

What Global GreenTag Certification Means for Trades

GreenTag isn’t self-declared. It’s one of the world’s most respected third-party certifications, assessing everything from raw materials and manufacturing to indoor air quality and end-of-life disposal.

For tradespeople and specifiers working on projects in education, aged care, healthcare or childcare, GreenTag Certification helps meet real compliance targets, including Green Star, WELL, and LEED building standards.

GreenTag also removes ambiguity and gives you clear, credible documentation you can pass on to clients, building managers or certifiers, without needing to dig through datasheets.

GreenTag Certified Paints That Perform on the Job

Haymes Paint certified products are from our Ultra Premium range, meaning there’s no compromise on performance. Our Global GreenTag Certified paints are already trusted across Australia for their finish, reliability, and ease of use.

  • Expressions® Interior: Interior broad wall surfaces. Durable finish, great coverage, low odour, GreenTag Certified
  • Ultratrim®: Trims, doors and windows. Hard-wearing, water-based, non-yellowing, GreenTag Certified
  • Ultraseal®: Undercoat for interior surfaces. Excellent adhesion, fast drying, low VOC, GreenTag Certified

All three are part of our interior paint range and can be confidently specified for both residential and commercial projects, including those aiming for Green Star or WELL compliance. Each can be tinted using the Haymes colour range and is compatible with standard trade application tools.

Certified paints aren’t just about compliance, they help you deliver a smoother experience on site and better outcomes for your clients.

  • Low odour means fewer complaints and faster return to use
  • Quick drying allows tighter project timelines
  • Very-low VOC levels support healthier indoor environments, especially important for vulnerable users (aged care, child care, health care)
  • Clear documentation enhances your value on commercial and residential jobs

For trade professionals, that means fewer call-backs, happier clients, and simpler jobs.

Future Certification and Packaging Upgrades

By the end of 2025, Haymes Paint will offer a fully certified interior range, from prep coats through to broad wall, trims and ceilings. That makes it even easier to quote with confidence, especially for multi-stage commercial or residential builds.

We’re also rolling out 50% recycled pails in 10L and 15L sizes across several water-based paints, including Ultra Premium, Elite, NewLife and Woodcare. It’s a practical packaging upgrade that reflects our longer-term commitment, without changing the performance or quality you expect on the job.
