Lead by Alistair Birrell, chief linen crafter and designer, Melbourne-based brand Mr Draper aims to make homewares and bedding a more personal experience. Needing a change in his life and tired of the disposable and transient nature of the items around our homes, Alistair founded Mr Draper in 2014 and set about creating products that are not only beautiful, but also hardwearing and functional. Mr Draper’s products are handmade in Alistair’s East Brunswick studio from fine linens sourced from quality mills throughout Europe.
The Haymes family run business was born in Ballarat in 1935, and is now in the hands of the fourth generation. Over the years, each member of the family has taken care to hand on the commitment and passion for crafting quality products, with each member living and breathing their values of individuality, independence and integrity.
The Curate palette incorporates the pairing of unexpected colour combinations, showcasing a considerable shift for colour directions in 2016. The palette encompasses electric blues, bright corals, rich tans and soft greys. Drawing its influence from natural materials such as leather, rope, linen and ceramics, with the bright colours channelling a playful and more contemporary approach to colour and design. The palette and the objects in this collection showcase how a range of items can become connected simply through grouping it together. The commonality is found in the materials, colours and processes, culminating in selection of curated pieces that showcase thoughtfully crafted objects and beautiful design.
