Concrete Penetrating Primer & Single Pack Exterior
1. On
masonry, where a satin finish is called for, what primer would be used?
On most substrates, Single pack exterior clear will give sufficient
adhesion without a primer. Take care applying Clear Satin direct to masonry as
it may leave a whitening effect. In this case apply a coat of Gloss first
followed by the satin (The same thing goes for all clear coatings on masonry).
On dense concrete and especially on floors, a coat of Concrete Penetrating
Primer should be applied first to optimize adhesion.
2. How
much can the Single Pack Exterior Clear be thinned?
It can be thinned up to 25% with water. The thinning is for penetration
and also where needed for ease of application.
3. How
long should be left between coats of Single Pack Exterior Clear?
Recoat after the 1st coat is ‘tack dry’, normally about one hour,
depending on weather. Do not leave longer than 16 hours between coats without
sanding.
4. How
is graffiti removed?
Use a graffiti remover followed by water washing. Alternately, on some
types of graffiti, methylated spirits may work. Stronger solvents should be
tested before use.
5. How
long after Concrete Primer should Single Pack Exterior Clear be applied?
Any time after the Concrete Primer is tack dry. Normally about 30
minutes.
6. What
other types of coatings can Single Pack Exterior & Anti Graffiti Clear be
applied over to provide a graffiti barrier?
Most types. If there is any doubt, a test sample should be done.
Adhesion should be tested after overnight dry. Not recommended over two packs.
7. How
many times can graffiti be removed from Single Pack Exterior & Anti
Graffiti Clear?
The clear is a strong semi-sacrificial coating and would normally only
need recoating after 2-4 graffiti attacks. If there is a doubt about film
thickness of the Single Pack Exterior Clear after graffiti has been removed, it
should be lightly sanded and recoated. |
