Get Tactile with These Trending Textures

Texture is an extremely important element when designing any interior scheme. Texture adds instant warmth to any living space, and helps to ensure that your humble adobe feels cosy, not clinical.

If you’re after some inspiration for your home, here is the Haymes round up of our three favourite trending textures: velvet, rattan and basketweave.

Velvet
There is a reason that velvet is still as popular as ever, serving both an aesthetic and practical purpose. It’s comfortable and warm, but it also adds a sprinkle of luxe wherever you incorporate it.

Velvet is an easy texture to integrate as it is available in so many forms; furnishings, linens, pillows, flooring and wall coverings. This velvet linen from Kip + Co is the perfect example of how to incorporate velvet in a way that is both practical, and beautiful.

Rattan
Rattan is no longer found exclusively in your gran’s house, but is one of the biggest design trends for 2018 in furnishings, décor and lighting fixtures. It’s loved for its contemporary yet handcrafted characteristics.

The perfect transitional texture, Rattan has the ability to be styled to add warmth in winter or add freshness that is reminiscent of the beach in the warmer months.

Basketweave
Basketweave was all over Milan Design Week this year, and we totally get why. This organic, almost raw finish adds an authentic touch to the home, giving a lived-in appearance while still looking chic.

You can find basket weave on furnishings, rugs, tapestries and lighting fixtures.
